Forestis Dolomites
HotelIf you’ve been hanging out on Instagram for the last two to three years, you’ve most likely heard about Forestis Hotel in the Dolomites. What’s surprising? The hotel is truly ‘worth the hype’, and every inch looks just like the photos. Let us take you on a tour of the 1,800 meters above sea-level resort…
The rooms
If you want to see any scenery, go for the ‘Tower Suite’. What the room lacks in size, it makes up in its panoramic rooms and its soothing alpine design. Once you open the curtains, you’ll be looking over scenic mountain views while still laying in bed. Every room comes with its own spacious terrace, which has its own daybed where you can lounge, read or take photos in wrapped in a big, cosy blanket. The bathrooms come in soothing light beige-grey flooring, with distinct black accents on faucets and more. It also comes with a picturesque bathtub.
The spa
Together with the restaurant (which we’ll get to in a moment), the spa is truly the highlight of the hotel. If you’re like most guests, you’ll spend most of your stay here – visiting the steam sauna, herb sauna, ice bath, pool and more. There are also Wyda (a type of yoga) and meditation classes each day, as well as a sauna ‘Aufguss’ every day at 4:30pm and 5:30pm. The heated pool goes on into the garden, where you can swim overlooking the Alps. In the summer, the lounge area and sunbeds extend onto the lawn – where you can sunbathe all day long. For treatments, you’ll be escorted to the second floor of the same – where you can choose between holistic and restorative massages, facials and various other rituals.
The restaurants
Although many associate fine dining with something where they leave the restaurant hungry at the end of the night – fine dining at Forestis is anything but. The menu changes every day between land and sea-focused, with a Vegetarian option available every day. Guests can choose between going for the full 7-course menu to allowing themselves to pick & choose between those dishes that catch their eye the most. The main restaurant is the Panorama Restaurant on the lower ground floor, where the same table will be reserved for you each evening of your stay (just show up between 7pm-9pm). On the ground floor, you’ll find the regular restaurant open for lunch (and allowing dogs) as well as the lounge and bar where you can also have bites and cocktails. And, we hear that not only is the restaurant getting a makeover ahead of this summer, but there is also a third restaurant set to arrive in the woods. We’re excited to see what the team thinks of this time around!
The surroundings
If you come here to ski, you won’t be disappointed by the extent of rolling hills surrounding the hotel. Just a 5-min. walk from the hotel, you’ll find the nearest chairlift which will connect you to the nearest ski routes. The dense woodland results in a unique air quality, making the area known for strengthening the lungs and circulation of those visiting. There’s also cross-country skiing, sledging, and snowshoe hiking. Most likely, you’ll be happy staying put in the hotel – however, if you’re keen to explore more, make a visit to Restaurant Fink for dinner and the village of Brixen for a wander.
The closing argument
Whether for a winter wonderland escape or an alpine summer, the hotel is worth a visit. We recommend 3-4 nights for the most relaxing experience.
To note: Guests must be 14 years or above.
